In addition to the permitted piece of hand luggage on Air Baltic, each passenger can carry one of the following personal items in the cabin:

  • Lady's bag
  • computer bag
  • Duty-free package
  • camera bag

On Air Baltic, hand luggage must be placed under the seat in front of you or on the shelf above the passenger's seat.

Excess (oversized) hand luggage

Air Baltic may refuse to carry excess (oversized) hand luggage during check-in. If there is space, it can be accepted for carriage in your luggage compartment for an additional fee (60 EUR).

If you are unsure about the weight or dimensions of your carry-on baggage, check with an employee at the baggage drop counter before going through security. If the employee decides that your bags or backpacks exceed the permitted limits, you will be asked to register and return them for a price of 50 EUR.

At the request of the airport representative, the passenger is obliged to place his belongings in the baggage measuring container located at the airport. The bag should fit easily and completely into the measuring container without pressing. Otherwise, the dimensions of hand luggage exceed the AirBaltic limits for items transported in the aircraft cabin and such items will have to be checked in for placement in the aircraft's luggage compartment for an additional fee.

Before sharing flights, one of which is operated by another airline, Air Baltic asks that you familiarize yourself with the weight and size restrictions of both airlines and follow the more stringent ones.

Can I take a guitar to the salon?

No, the dimensions of the guitar exceed the maximum dimensions allowed for hand luggage at AirBaltic (55x40x23 cm), so it cannot be transported in hand luggage in the cabin.

If you want to transport your guitar in the cabin, you need a special ticket, which can be purchased at AirBaltic ticket offices along with an adult ticket. A guitar with an air ticket purchased online will not be accepted on board.

  3. Each passenger can take only one such bag of liquids and submit it for inspection.

Liquids that cannot be placed in resealable bags must be packed in a return bag.

Liquids from Duty Free

You can take on board liquids purchased from Duty Free stores at any airport, subject to the following conditions:

  • at the time of purchase, the seller must seal the liquid and purchase receipt in a special transparent bag with a red stripe

  • Information about
  • Airport:

The state aviation company of Latvia, AirBaltic, appeared relatively recently, in 1995. The main office of the company is located in the capital of the state. This organization specializes in freight and passenger transportation services.

Total in Latvia low-cost airline AirBaltic cooperates with three civil airports, but its main base is Riga International Airport. AirBaltic also controls the Estonian Lennarta Meri Airport in Tallinn and the Lithuanian Vilnius Airport.

In the summer of 1995, the shareholders of AirBaltic slowly but surely developed their aviation organization, launched the first passenger flights and gradually gained the trust of local citizens. From the first days of the airline's existence, the Latvian state owned 51 percent of the shares. One of the first aircraft on which AirBaltic carried passengers on a direct flight from Riga was the Saab 340. Already a year after this, the capacity of such aircraft turned out to be insufficient to meet the needs of the existing passenger traffic. Every year, the number of flights and destinations served by AirBaltic became more and more, so today it is the main air carrier of the country and occupies a leading position in the CIS countries.

The budget airline AirBaltic flies to more than sixty destinations around the world. The most popular among them are the following countries: Russia, Finland, Germany, Sweden and Norway. AirBaltic has also been cooperating with other aviation companies for many years. Among its codeshare partners there are more than twenty world airlines. Under the terms of such agreements, partner carriers sell tickets for each other's flights.

The diligent and responsible work of this airline's personnel allows it to guarantee its passengers safe flights and high quality service. One of the main advantages of this organization is the airline’s moderate pricing policy. Record low prices for air tickets are perhaps the key factor in the success and popularity of AirBaltic. This airline offers almost the lowest prices for flights within the European region, CIS countries and the Middle East.

AirBaltic airline – contacts.

Passengers can book or purchase airline tickets from AirBaltic in any way convenient for them. You can use the services of travel agencies, buy tickets at the airport ticket office, or make an order online. Today, official representative offices of AirBaltic operate in 33 countries around the world. More details about each of them can be found on the carrier’s official website. If you have any questions, you can always contact airline employees and official representatives. Below are the contact details of AirBaltic head office in Riga:

AirBaltic airline also has an official representative office in the Russian Federation (Moscow):

It is worth noting that the Moscow office of the company does not have the right to sell air tickets for AirBaltic flights, but there you can get specialist advice on any issues related to air transportation.

AirBaltic aircraft fleet.

Today, the aviation fleet of the national Latvian company consists of about 25 aircraft. These include Boeing 737-300 and Boeing 737-500 passenger airliners, as well as the Bombardier Dash 8 G400. In the near future, it is planned to replenish the aircraft fleet with another 13 large Bombardier passenger aircraft. According to expert estimates, in 2013 the air carrier AirBaltic transported almost three million people. In 2014, this figure may increase.

Meals and service during the flight.

High-quality service and safe flights are guaranteed to all passengers without exception, but meals depend on the class of flight you plan to travel on. Each business class passenger can enjoy reading the latest press and fashion magazines, as well as have a hearty lunch. A full three-course meal awaits them if the flight lasts more than 1-2 hours. During short flights (less than an hour), such passengers are offered delicious snacks, desserts and a glass of wine.

In addition, in the airBalticShop you can buy cute accessories, perfumes or even a bouquet of flowers. For those who prefer to travel in economy class, there is a so-called pre-booking menu. The client can choose the most suitable in-flight meal for himself at the time of purchasing an air ticket or refuse it in order to save money.

There is also a special loyalty program called PINS on AirBaltic flights. If you often use the services of this airline, you can receive a certain bonus for each new flight, which will allow you to save a lot on flights in the future. People who, for health reasons or for any other reasons, need special nutrition, must notify the carrier in advance or select several dishes for themselves in a special preliminary menu.

AirBaltic hand luggage rules

At AirBaltic airline hand luggage size, or rather, its limitations are practically no different from international standards. If a passenger takes a laptop, camera, camera and briefcase into the cabin together or separately, all these items must be in one cabin baggage compartment. It is important that the weight limit is not exceeded, otherwise the passenger will be forced to pay a fine of 60 euros. If there are no additional spaces available, such hand luggage will have to be checked in for 40 euros.

AirBaltic baggage rules

The maximum weight of checked baggage that can be carried free of charge is 20 kilograms. For each additional piece of luggage above the norm you will have to pay extra. The cost of transporting luggage is 25 euros, if payment was made at the time of purchasing the ticket on the AirBaltic website. When tickets are purchased from travel agencies or directly from airport ticket offices, the cost of baggage increases to 35 euros per bag. And this is only in one direction. Passengers expecting to pay for their excess baggage at the check-in counter will be forced to spend 40 euros or 60 euros at the gate.

To avoid all such additional financial expenses, it is better not to exceed the existing norms for the weight and dimensions of carried luggage. If we are talking about auxiliary equipment that people with disabilities need, then, provided that safety rules are not violated, such items are allowed to be carried free of charge. Only business class passengers cannot pay for the transportation of sports equipment in the luggage compartment, while others are obliged to pay extra for exceeding the weight limit, as in the case mentioned earlier.

Transporting animals with Air Baltic

This company offers its passengers the opportunity to transport a wide variety of animals by plane, with the only exceptions being reptiles and rodents. It is important to notify the carrier about the need for such transportation in advance, several days before departure. Air Baltic Airlines transports animals both in the passenger cabin and in the luggage compartment. In one cage you can transport no more than two individuals that do not conflict with each other. You can book and pay for your trip at the company’s office, at the ticket office or online directly on the website. For detailed information please contact the following numbers:

  • +371 67006006, international number
  • 89001100, Lithuania (call cost about 0.6 euros per minute).
  • +7 916 2221271, Sheremetyevo airport

Tariffs for such transportation

  • In the passenger cabin – 60 euros per trip;
  • In the luggage compartment – 100 euros per trip.

Search and book flights

You can find and buy air tickets using the search form or by going to the official website of the low-cost airline. The advantage of the search form is that it takes into account special offers from other airlines and ticket offices. Therefore, it may happen that buying a ticket on a low-cost airline’s website will be more expensive than through the search form. Be sure to try both options!

Carry-on baggage requirements vary depending on the type of ticket.

Hand luggage

So, if you are flying on Business Smart and Business Elite fares or are a member of the PINS VIP program and have VIP status, then you are allowed to carry 2 pieces of hand luggage on board. For passengers flying economy service class, only 1 piece of hand luggage is allowed.

However, the requirements for registration of such a piece of luggage are universal. The maximum weight should not exceed 8 kg, and the parameters should be 55x40x20. It is also worth noting that the passenger must place the appropriate luggage on the shelf above his seat or in a niche under the seat in front, and do this himself. However, infants are not allowed carry-on luggage. As for passengers with special physical needs, they can carry necessary equipment, such as a wheelchair or crutches, in the cabin free of charge, subject to safety regulations.

A camera, laptop and other additional items can be taken on board only as part of hand luggage; they are prohibited from being carried separately. If, upon boarding, it is discovered that hand luggage exceeds the required dimensions and/or weight, the passenger may be denied the right to fly. If the flight is not too busy and there is an extra seat in the cabin, it can be accepted with an additional payment of 60 euros. Therefore, it is better to make sure in advance that all required standards are met. If you are not sure about this, you can go to the delivery counter before going through security and have your luggage checked - if you find an excess at this stage, you will need to pay 40 euros.

Checked baggage

Just as with carry-on baggage, the requirements for checked baggage vary depending on the passenger class. For Business Smart and Business Elite tariff plans, you are allowed to carry a maximum of 3 pieces with a total weight of no more than 60 kg. In the case of Economy Class and its Economy Smart and Economy Elite fares, 1 piece weighing up to 20 kg is allowed. The Basic tariff does not include free transportation of checked baggage, so you need to pay extra for it. The surcharge ranges from 25 euros when booking air tickets and baggage at the same time to 40 euros when paying at the check-in counter.

Members of the PINS VIP program receive special bonuses. If they have VIP status, then in business class of both types they can carry 5 pieces of baggage free of charge, and in economy class of both types - 3 pieces. For Executive status holders, this allowance represents 4 and 2 pieces of baggage, respectively.

It is also necessary to remember that, according to the safety rules established by the airline, the weight of one bag cannot exceed 20 kg. Thus, if you want, for example, to carry a load weighing 23 kg, then you need to count on 2 pieces of luggage. The maximum number of bags that 1 passenger can carry is 5 units, that is, under no circumstances can you transport more than 100 kg of luggage in one flight.
