How to get a long-term visa to Belgium?

Do I need a visa to Belgium in 2020?

2. Member State(s) of destination – here you need to note the countries that will be the main ones on your trip. Ironically, there is nothing but Belgium at this point;
3. Member State of first entry – country of first entry. Here you choose through which country you will enter the Schengen zone for the first time. If you fly to Belgium right away, choose it;
4. Number of entries requested – type of visa requested by number of entries (multiplicity): "One"– single entry, "Two"– double, "Multiple"– visa for an unlimited number of entries (multiple visa). We recommend that you always request a cartoon, it won’t get any worse. The principle “ask for more - they will always give less” works here;
5. Duration of the intended stay or transit (number of days) – expected duration of stay in the Schengen area in days. The maximum value is 90, we set it if we are requesting a multiple entry visa. If you want to get a visa for one trip (which is usually not done), put the actual number of days you will spend on your first trip;
6. (First) intended date of arrival in the Schengen area – expected date of entry into the Schengen zone, here we set the actual start date of your first trip on a future visa;
7. (Last) intended date of departure from the Schengen area – expected date of departure from the Schengen area. This is the most important line in the questionnaire! It is there that you indicate for what period you are asking for a visa. Add exactly a year minus 1 day to the previous point, and it turns out that you are requesting a visa for a year. Add six months minus a day - there will be a request for six months;

Means of transport – the type of transport you will use to get to Belgium. Possible options: "Car"- automobile, "Airplane"- airplane, "Train"- train, "Boat"– ship (any type), "Autocar"- the same as a car.

1. Visa sticker number – number of the previous Schengen visa (indicated on the visa itself, stuck in the passport);
2. Delivered by – here we indicate the country that issued the previous visa;
3. Valid from And Valid until – start and end dates of the previous visa.

Inviting organization (inviting organization) – paragraph 32 is completed if you have been invited to Belgium by some organization for a business meeting. In order not to be afraid of being late in obtaining a visa, it is better to submit documents two weeks before the trip or earlier. The standard processing time for a visa is 10 days, in fact it is usually done in 3-4, but not always and not for everyone. Please take this into account and do not forget that the earliest deadline for submitting documents is 3 months before the intended trip.

VALIDITY

As for a tourist visa to Belgium, there is no universal answer regarding the validity period. They may give it for a year, or they may only give it for the duration of one trip. It all depends on your visa history and the location of the stars. On average, if you already had Schengen visas, it is quite possible to “shake out” a multiple visa for six months or even a year from the Belgians. Go for it!

DISCLAIMER: WHAT TO DO

Russians who are planning to visit Belgium in 2020 should also think about preparing a visa in advance. It is mandatory for all citizens of the Russian Federation, and the procedure for obtaining it is in many ways similar to the process of preparing a visa for other Schengen countries.

It should be noted that with this type of visa, employment is prohibited, and you can stay in the country for no more than 90 days in six months. Category C visa is issued for a period from 6 months to 5 years.

But a long-term (national) Schengen visa to Belgium is required for those applicants who plan to stay in this country for a long period. The purpose of finding can be very different. This includes studying, working, running a business, treatment, and even getting married. The procedure for obtaining such a visa is more complex. There are a number of categories of users who have benefits and are exempt from paying the cost of a visa. These are members of delegations, children under 6 years of age and students (their visit to the country must be for educational purposes). Payment of fees does not guarantee receipt of a visa, and all funds spent on registration will not be returned if the application is rejected.

How to get a visa to Belgium on your own

You can obtain a visa yourself using any of the following methods:

1. Contact one of the Belgian CCs. In this case, no prior registration is required;
2. Go to the Belgian Embassy. In this case, the date and time of the visit must be booked in advance.

Also, when receiving your first visa, it is mandatory to carry out a fingerprinting procedure. It includes: obtaining a digital photograph of the applicant and scanning all of his fingerprints. Information on fingerprinting is stored in the VIS database for the next 5 years. During this period, resubmission of fingerprints may be required only in exceptional situations. Often they are due to a personal request from the Embassy. After the 5-year period, biometrics are taken again.

Some categories of applicants are exempt from scanning. These include children under 12 years of age, individuals with physical disabilities that preclude fingerprinting, and applicants who have been scanned within the last 59 months.

Algorithm of actions during registration

Registration of a visa requires the applicant to carry out the following actions:

• Filling out a visa application;
• Collection of required documents;
• Pre-registration for an appointment;
• Payment of visa fees. When visiting the Embassy, ​​only non-cash payments are possible. Cash payment is not available;
• Visiting the department in accordance with the specified time and submitting documents for issuing a visa;
• Submission of biometric data;
• Tracking the status of a submitted application (available when contacting one of the CCs);
• Receiving a passport with a stamp affixed to it.

At the first application, the submission of documents is carried out exclusively by the applicant. All subsequent submissions can be made not only personally, but also with the help of a third party. This may be a relative who will provide documents confirming the relationship. Or you can use the services of a trusted representative. He must have a power of attorney with notarization.

Visa application form

You can choose one of four languages ​​to fill out the visa application form. It can be prepared in English, German, French or Dutch. Personal signatures are required. Parents fill out children's forms. They also sign the form. At 14 years of age and older, the parent’s signature is supplemented by the child’s signature.

• The size of the pictures is exclusively 3.5x4.5 cm;
• The background must be monochromatic and in white (light) colors;
• The face takes up about 70-80% of the total dimensions of the photo and is in the center;
• The picture is as realistic as possible, high quality and with high clarity;
• The photo must be taken no later than six months before the date of submission;
• When printing, photo paper with a matte base is used;
• Corners, ovals and other frames are not used in the photo;
• Any editing or retouching of the photograph using specialized programs is strictly prohibited;
• The photo should show as much face as possible. No hats, caps, tinted glasses, scarves or other accessories. The only exceptions are reasons of a religious nature;
• The face should not express any emotions.

Visa documents for children

Parents are responsible for filling out the child visa application form. For such a visa you will additionally need:

• Birth certificate;
• Document from the educational institution;
• Consent to travel when traveling with one of the parents who is divorced. If the spouses are married, then such notification is not required. The document, if available, must be notarized;
• If one of the parents is absent, a document confirming this fact must be provided.

Additional documents

The set of additional documents for visa preparation is determined based on the purposes of the planned trip. For a business visit, an invitation letter from foreign partners is required. It should contain not only their personal data and contacts, but also a clear purpose of the trip, as well as its timing. When paying expenses, the receiving party must prepare documents confirming this.

For a personal visit, an invitation from the host party is required. The reasons for the invitation and proof of relationship must be indicated. When relatives pay expenses, it is necessary to provide relevant documents.

When transiting through Belgian territory, you will need a hotel reservation and copies of tickets along the entire route.

When obtaining a study visa, confirmation of enrollment, indication of grants and scholarships (if any), documents on financial solvency, and a health certificate issued by an accredited medical center (filled out in French or German) are required. A certificate of no criminal record is also required. It must cover the last 5 year period.

In the case of obtaining a work visa, the applicant will need to additionally prepare an existing work permit, which is issued by the authorities of the receiving state. It must be class B. A professional card may also be required.

How long does it take to get a visa to Belgium?

The Moscow Visa Center processes visa applications within 3-10 days. If you contact one of the regional centers, this period may increase. This is due to the need to send documents to Moscow for their study and confirmation. Weekends and holidays are not taken into account. And not only according to Russian, but also according to Belgian legislation.
